House Update!

Bedroom

My amazing mom came into town this past weekend and helped me fix up my house, which means we went to Ikea. I love Ikea, but you should have seen my mother and I struggling like oompahs trying to get the largest expedit bookcase onto one of those flat cart things. I don’t think I’ve ever sweat / laughed / gasped all at once so much in my life. There’s a lot of heavy lifting to be had at Ikea.

Room of Drawers and a Table

I was worn out for the three days after that experience, especially after all the building we then had to do. But big projects like that are fun, and now my home is sooo much homier, and now I finally! have a counter-height work table, which I’ve been needing for about two years now. Woooo hoo! I love it so much I’m tempted to sleep on it.

Rainbow

My books are finally off the floor, which I’m so happy about. Before the shelves, I had all my millions of books stacked on the floor and my cat, Penny, took to climbing the teetering piles so she could peek out the window. This lead to many falling, crashing books, so needless to say I’m thrilled to finally have bookshelves. And to top it all off, I sorted them in rainbow-order because a long time ago I saw this and said to myself “when I get bookshelves, I’m gonna do that.” So I did!

Whimsies

I also got the smaller expedit bookcase in black/brown for my den, but that room isn’t finished yet. That’s for a later post. The rest of the house, I’m happy to announce, is pretty much done (except I’m still looking for a fun headboard), and I even went as far as organizing all of my drawers of materials for the Piles of Paper and Jars of Whimsies which fill up most of my workroom and make the whole thing look like a hall of drawers. Drawers with labels and fun things inside. Just the thought makes me giddy.

    Hi,
the re-organisation looks great! This may be a stupid question, but where did you find the little wooden drawers on your shelves. I cannot for the life of me find them anywhere.

I’m impressed with your organizing. One day I’ll have a room like that…and it’ll probably last all of one day.

I totally saw this on flickr some time ago and thought to myself, “Now that is a craft room fit for a king and queen”. I think I favorited it. Or, at least I should have.
